Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has confirmed National team’s tour of Sri Lanka from October 12-21. National team will fine tune their preparations for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Division III scheduled to be held in Malaysia from October 23 to 30.
Nepal will be playing with some of the top local clubs during the nine day practice tour of Sri Lanka. They will play three matches. But yet the teams that will be playing against Nepal have not been confirmed yet.
Nepal will directly fly to Malaysia from Sri Lanka on October 21 to compete in Division III which will determine Nepal’s future for next three years.
National cricket team’s coach Pubudu Dassanayake also confirmed about the tour. He said that his side is trying to make possible to play with some of the tough team in Sri Lanka but the team has not been finalized.
“We have been in regular with the Sri Lanka cricket board for what type of team we are palying against. But we have not yet got conformations about the teams,” said Pubudu.
The coach further describes, “But we have got assured that we will be playing against the tough teams of Sri Lanka. We also have got assurance that we will get some of the quality bowlers for nets and I do believe that this will allow our batsmen to get some test themselves.”
Nepal will begin the campaign of Division III against Uganda on October 23 while play against Bermuda on the next day. Likewise they will play against Singapore on October 26 and against United States of America on 27th. Nepal will end their campaign of Division III against the host Malaysia on October 29.
The top team will qualify for the Division II which will be held in January the next year. Teams securing the third and fourth will remain in Division III while fifth and sixth team will be relegated down to Division IV.
