Nepal takes 31 runs lead in first innings

Nepal took a minor lead of 31-run in the first innings on the second day of the match against Sri Lanka Combine XI but their second three-day game is heading towards a draw with just one day left in the match at the Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka on Saturday.

 

Nepal bundled the home side just for 162 runs as right arm fast bowler Som Pal Kami came up with his best figure in first class cricket i.e. 6-48. Kami had taken 5-64 in the first match of the tour. This also the second best figure for Nepali bowlers in First Class Cricket after Binod Das who has a figure of 6-29 against Hong Kong.

 

Combile XI had started the second day on 101 for five after rain washed out 64 overs in the opening day of the match on Friday.

 

Even though Nepali openers Subash Khakurel and Naresh Budayair came up with 100 runs partnership but eventually were all out for 193 runs as Prabath Jayasuriya picked eight wickets of Nepali batsmen.

 

Wicket-keeper batsman Khakurel made is maiden half century in First Class cricket. Khakurel was duck out in both innings of his First Class debut match against Karunegala Combine 11. Khakurel made 55 runs from 101 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.

 

Naresh was the second highest run scorer for Nepal who made 43 runs off 102 balls with help of nine boundaries. Apart from Naresh Rajesh Pulami Magar remained not out on 36 runs off 63 balls.

 

Apart from them Anil Mandal made four runs, Captain Paras Khadka made two runs while vice-captain and debutant Gyanendra Malla was out on 13 runs.

 

At the close of second day the host has made 10 runs losing their one wicket still trail by 21 runs made by Nepal. Amrit Bhattrai was the only bowler from Nepal to take wicket in the second inning.
