Nepal qualify for ACC U-19 Asia Cup

Nepal qualified for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup after defeating Kuwait by 83 runs in the ACC U-19 Premier in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday.

The tournament serves as the qualification for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup with the top three teams qualifying for the tournament. Test playing Asian nations India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be vying with three qualified sides in the Asia Cup.

Since the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has already been scrapped, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will look after all the programmes that used to be played under the regional cricket governing body.

After the completion of fourth round matches, Afghanistan currently lead the table with eight points, while Nepal and Malaysia have six points each, the former staying second on better net run rate.

Since none of the top three teams are going to get overhauled by the remaining three teams, they have already made it through to the Asia Cup. It is going to be Nepal’s third consecutive appearance in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup which was first introduced in 2013.

The date and venues for the U-19 Asia Cup is yet to be declared.
