Nepal in sight of qualification for next U-19 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has opened up direct qualification chance for Nepal to make it to the 2018 U-19 World Cup.

A board meeting of the international cricket governing body on Thursday decided to provide automatic qualification for the next edition of the U-19 World Cup to the top place Associate teams in the ongoing tournament in Bangladesh.

Nepal and Namibia are so far in the running for the spot with both teams playing in the quarter-finals. While Nepal face hosts Bangladesh on Friday, Namibia will meet India on Saturday.

If both teams will go on to lose the game, they could play each in the playoff semi-final from where the winners will qualify direct for the tournament’s next edition. New Zealand are hosting the next edition of the World Cup.
