Nepal get 228-run target in second friendly against B’desh

Bangladesh U-19 have given a target of 228 runs to Nepal U-19 in their second practice match of the team’s preparation tour at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) grounds in Dhaka on Saturday
Electing to field first, Nepal managed to restrict Bangladeshto 159-4 in 42.5 overs but a late onslaught from Afif Hossain lifted the hosts to 227-8 in 50 overs.
Nepal had reduced Bangladesh to 46-2 in 10.1 overs getting rid of openers Sojib Hossain (seven) and Naim Sheikh (26). However, a 54-run partnership between Saif Hasan and Tawhid Hridoy consolidated the innings.
Hridoy made 29 off 50 with two fours and a six before losing his wicket to skipper Dipendra Singh Airee, who had also dismissed opener Naim. Saif then shared another 59 runs with Afif for the fourth wicket but Nepali spinners bowled tightly to keep the run rate below four runs an over.
Saif made 62 from 115 balls hitting four boundaries and a six before leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane got rid of him. Affif produced some late fireworks smashing four sixes and two boundaries in his 67-ball 59.
While Sandeep also ended up picking two wickets for 37 runs in his 10-over spell, Nepal had affected four run outs in the game. Shahab Alam went wicketless but was economical in his 10 overs conceding just 31 runs. Medium pacer Rashid Khan was hit for 61 runs in eight overs.
