The ICC World Cricket League Division-III preparing Nepali national team today won their first practice match against Star Academy by three wickets in Jaipur.
Electing to bat first the hosts, were bundled out for 155 in the final ball of their innings. Spin duo, Sanjam Regmi and Basanta Regmi picked up four wickets each to squeeze out Star Academy to a low total. Nepal reached the target in 44 overs but not before losing their seven wickets. Sharad Vesawkar top scored for Nepal with 44 runs. Prithu Baskota remained unbeaten on 36. Skipper Paras Khadka was out for 10 and Binod Bhandari could make just nine.
Pankaj Kataria took three wickets for Star Academy. Earlier, Abhijeet Tomar fought a lone battle against Nepali bowlers with an unbeaten 58 runs. Seamer Amrit Bhattari also had one scalp for Nepal. Nepal are on a seven-day tour of Rajasthan where they will play four 50-over matches before returning on April 20.
Nepal are playing United States of America, Uganda, Oman, Italy and hosts Bermuda in the World Cricket League Division-III which sends two finalists after the round robin league into the 10-team ICC 2014 World Cup Qualifier. The Division-III tourament is beginning from April 28.
