Four Nepali cricketers on Friday left abroad today to participate for their participation in tournaments and practice sessions.
Middle order batsman and Nepal’s batting order mainstay Gyanendra Malla along with left arm spinner Basanta Regmi left for Canada to play in the Canadian League. Subash Khakurel and Pradeep Airee left for Sri Lanka to compete in the Sri Lankan U-23 League.
Gyanendra will play for Ontario Cricket Academy and Club (OCA) and Basanta will ply his trades with GTA Challengers Club – a second tier club in the Candaian League. The Canadian League has already begun on June 1.
Subash – who replaced another middle order batsman Binod Bhandari at the last moment – and Pradeep will play U-23 League which only features two-day tournaments until July 26. The U-23 League began from Friday in Colombo.
The duo will play from Kurunnegala Cricket Club in the event that will be held till July 26. Nepal’s coach Pubudu Dassanayake had recommended Binod’s name along with Pradeep but the former was not eligible for the tournament since he exceeded age limit by few months.
The four cricketers will return Nepal for the ACC Emerging Teams Cup which will be held in Singapore on August.
The Emerging Teams Cup features U-23 teams from four Test playing nations of Asia along with full strength teams from hosts Singapore, UAE and Afghanistan.
