With the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers just four days away, the national cricket team — that landed in Dubai at around 3:00AM in the morning–, is geared up for their first warm-up match against UAE at the ICC Global Cricket Academy 2 in Dubai on Tuesday.
The match will provide both the teams to test themselves under tough conditions ahead of their crucial group stage matches.
The warm-up match will also allow national cricket team coach Pubudu Dassanayake test all his 15 players — as the unofficial fixture allows. Dassanayake is considering to give all 15 players a chance to perform.
“We are allowed to play all 15 players tomorrow. So we will make maximum use of the warm-up match,” Dassanayake told cricketingnepal.com.
The national team today had a light training session from 1:00PM to 3:00PM local time. Dassanayake said he is looking forward for the match. “UAE lately have been doing well. It will be a good match for us to get everyone into the rhythm,” added the coach.
Before signing in their ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers campaign with a match against Denmark on November 15, Nepal will also play another practice match against the United States of America on Wednesday.
Nepal are pitted Group ‘B’ of the 16-team Twenty20 Qualifiers — which sends six teams in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 to be hosted by Bangladesh — alongside Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Scotland, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Bermuda and Denmark.
The Group ‘A’ features Ireland, the UAE, Namibia, Canada, Hong Kong, Uganda, USA, Italy. While the two table toppers after the league stage will directly make it to the World Twenty20, the remaining four spots will be decided through second round of playoff.
