Mumbai starts with lost in IPL 7

Defending champion Mumbai Indians starts with the lost in the first match of seventh edition of IPL by 41 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in the match held at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.


Mumbai playing their first match after Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar retirement from IPL could manage to make only 122 runs in 20 overs losing their seven wickets chasing the target of 164 runs.


Ambati Rayudu was the highest run scorer for Mumbai who made 48 runs in 40 balls with four fours. Captain of the team Rohit Sharma made 27 runs in 20 balls while Aditya Tare contributed 24 runs for his team. Apart from these three players no one was able to make a double figure runs for their team.


Kolkata win was made possible my spinner Sunil Narine who took four wicket conceding 20 runs in his four over spell. Apart from Narine Morne Morkel, Shakib Al Hasan and Piyush Chawala booked a wicket each in their name.


Earlier with the help of veteran Jacque Kallis’s 72 runs Kolkata piled up a score of 163 runs in 20 overs with the loss of five wickets. Man of the match Kallis played 46 balls and hit five fours and three sixes. Manish Pandey also contributed 64 runs.
