My Second Teacher, the national cricket team jersey sponsors, on Thursday rewarded national cricket team and four Twenty20 International debutants.
MST had said it would honour the team with Rs 500,000 for their performance in the Tri-Nation Twenty20 International Series held in Nepal during April. Nepal had won the Series to claim their first international title at home in 11 years.
MST said it was both the reward and motivation for the national team. Also, Twenty20 International debutants Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Kamal Singh Airee and Shahab Alam were also give Rs 100,000 apiece.
The jersey sponsors had said they will reward the national team and debutants but were unable to do so due to lockdown that came into effect soon after the completion of the series.
Sulav Budhathoki, founder of Innovate Tech and My Second Teacher, said he was filled with honour when Nepal claimed the title at home.
“It was really a great honour and pride for us to see Nepal perform so beautifully during the Tri-Nation Series. We are optimistic that the standard and confidence of Nepali team will soon establish us in bigger stage of world cricket,” said Budhathoki.
National team captain Gyanendra Malla assured that his side will continue to be competent and give their best ont the field.
Nepal were preparing for their second Tri-Series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 originally slated to be held in Spain in July but due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the tournament has been postponed for July, 2022.
