Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club entered the final of the Lalitpur Mayor Women’s Championship with one-match in hand on the back of yet another comprehensive victory.
On their course of third consecutive win, APF hammered Lalitpur Mayor’s XI by 10 wickets, and are now at least assured of second spot in the five-team tournament where the top two teams after single round robin league directly make it to the final.
Binu Budha Magar wreaked havoc in the middle order picking up 4-11 from four overs as Lalitpur were restricted to a tournament-low 66-9.
For a low chase, APF tried out a new opening pair of Rajmati Airee and Indu Barma and the two steered he departmental side to 67 without loss in just 9.1 overs.
Rajmati, getting chance to finally bat in the third game, made 33 off 31 with four boundaries. Indu chipped in 24-ball 28 with three fours.
Earlier, Lalitpur were 9-2 by the start of third over before Kanchan Shrestha and captain Saraswati Chaudhary (12) tried to consolidate the innings. Their 30-run stand ended when Binu dived to take a return catch of Saraswati.
Binu then bowled Lalitpur’s top performer Suman Khatiwada (three) and had Ashmina Karmacharya (two) apart from dismissing Kanchan to virtually throw them out of the game. Suman and Ashmina had come into the match with tournament high unbroken 108-run partnership in their previous game against Lumbini Province.
Kanchan top scored with 30-ball 17 and Santoshi Chaudhary (13) was Lalitpur’s second best contributor. Both of them hit two boundaries apiece.
Rekha Rawal also picked up two wickets for APF, while Karuna Bhandari bowled a tight line giving away just three runs in her four-over spell picking up one wicket.
