Manjeet five-for rocks HCA

Former national team member Manjeet Shrestha picked up five wickets as Great Himalaya Cricket Academy (GHCA) routed Himalayan Cricket Academy (HCA) by 127 runs in the Kathmandu Cricket League on Saturday at the Tundikhel grounds.

 

Half centuries from national team cricketer Sharad Vesawkar and Pradeep Tandan helped GHCA build on to a respectable 199 all out in 42.5 overs. After early strikes from Rahul Mishra and Bishal Babu Adhikari, Manjeet did the rest making impact in the lower and middle order before HCA were 72 all out in 19 overs.

 

Man-of-the-match Manjeet returned the figures of 5-20 from four overs, while Adhikari took 3-6 from his four. Mishra picked up 2-25 from four overs. Surendra Chand top scored for HCA with 17 off 30 hitting three boundaries with Shakti Bhandari (11) and Kiran Budha Magar (11) becoming their next best contributors.

 

Earlier, GHCA were precariously placed at at 44-4 but a 65-run partnership between Pradee and Sharad brought them back in the match. Pradeep was out for 61 off 97 that included nine hits to the fence.

 

GHCA then suffered another collapse losing three wickets for eight runs but Sharad was there for them. He got involved in two crucial partnerships – first 47-run stand with Arpan Kunwar then adding 36 with Rahul.

 

Sharad made 71 off 92 with six boundaries and two sixes, while Kunwar contributed 29 off 28 with four fours and a six. Yagyaman Kumal and Bhuwan Karki picked up three wickets each for HCA and Pradeep Airee had two scalps.
