Lord Buddha Cricket Club (LBCC) ran riot over Ultimate Indoor Cricket for a 256-run crushing victory to enter the semi-finals of the Kathmandu Cricket League on Thursday.
In the Group ‘B’ game at the Tundikhel grounds, LBCC registered their second consecutive victory and went through as pool winners. Ultimate and SMC Baneshwor were kicked out from the league stage.
Electing to bat first against a hapless Ultimate bowling attack, Sujan Thapaliya did most of the job for LBCC scoring a century and combining for two century stands lifting the team to a tournament-high 344-5 in 45-over match. Ultimate were 88 all out in 30.3 overs.
LBCC got off to a dream start when Sujan shared 110-run opening wicket partnership with Biswas Adhikari, who made 45 off 47 with six boundaries and a maximum. Sujan went on to share another 132 runs for the second wicket with Sanjeev Khanal as LBCC headed towards a mammoth total. Sanjeev made 40 off 38 with seven boundaries.
Sujan was finally dismissed but he had already done the damage smashing 17 fours and five sixes in his 87-ball 136, tournament’s highest individual total. Prasoon Thapa (29), Manish Srivastav (18) and Raunak Dhungana (16) pushed LBCC score close to 350.
Arjun Pandey picked up three wickets for Ultimate who had used all their 11 bowlers. Sudeep Nepal and Kushal Basnet also picked up two wickets each.
Ultimate were no match to LBCC bowlers as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sudeep top scored with 20 off 53 with two fours, while Kushal Basnet (14) and Arjun (12) were other batsmen to reach double figures. Prasoon and Utsav Uprety picked up three wickets each for LBCC.
