Kushal Bhurtel has replaced Aashish Dhami for the upcoming ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier that will be held in Malaysia from August 14-23.
Aashish was the part of the Nepali team that participated in the recently concluded ACC U-19 Premier in Malaysia where he played two matches.
But following a poor form during the training sessions in Kathmandu and coach Jagat Tamatta’s desire to bolster the middle order, Kushal was provided with the opportunity to represent Nepal in one of the most important tournaments for them.
In the 14-member squad finalised by CAN, rest of the members in the squad that competed in the ACC U-19 Premier were retained.
Raju Rijal will lead the side that also includes Aarif Sheikh (vice-captain), Dipendra Airee, Saurav Khanal, Shankar Rana, Sandeep Sunar, Sunil Dhamala, Yogendra Karki, Dipesh Shrestha, Sushil Kandel, Prem Tamang, Rajbir Singh and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi.
Along with Aashish, Kamal Airee, Himanshu Dutta and Sandeep Lamichhane were kept as reserves.
Nepal will take on Papua New Guinea, Uganda, United States of America and Ireland from where only the winners of the tournament will make it to the 2016 U-19 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh.
