National team coach Pubudu Dassanayake said Nepal have no excuses over losing matches against the Sri Lankan U-23 team during their 15-day tour during their ACC Emerging Teams Cup preparation.
Nepal were crushed 4-0 in the four practice matches by the Sri Lankan U-23 team. The most closer Nepal went against the Sri Lankan team was when it fell just three-run short in their third match while chashing a target of 168 all out.
In other matches Nepal even go anywhere near their opponents — the highest score Nepal pulled against the side was 166-7 in the final match which they lost by seven wickets on Monday.
“We have no excuses for losing matches. But we played against Sri Lankan second string team which was really a high-level than (the ones) we played in last few months,” said Dassanayake.
“Matches in SL and Singapore will help for our preparations for both qualifiers. Unfortunately Paras, Pradeep, Subash and Prithu are suffering with minor injuries. They all will be ready for Singapore.”
“Positive part of the tour is Sagar, Ramnaresh and Avinash showed potential to play this level. Road to World Cup will have lots of up and downs. Keep faith on us and you will not be disappointed with the end results.”
