Kailali District Cricket Academy (KDCA) entered the semi-final of the Ruslan Attariya Cup Women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament with an eight-wicket victory over Bara in their last Group ‘B’ match on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Bara were restricted to 67-9 in 20 overs before KDCA replied with 70-2 in 12 overs. Bara will now take on Group ‘A’ winners Nepal Armed Police Force Club in the semi-finals. In the second semi-final, Group ‘A’ runners-up will take pool ‘B’ winners Rising Cricket Women.
KDCA lost their first wicket for 19 runs after Nitu Bhandari (nine) ran herself out. Another opener Manju Bokati and Kabita Kunwar then shared 46 runs for the second wicket to throw Bara out of the contest. Kabita contributed 22 off 26 with three hits to the fence and Manju remained unbeaten on 33 hitting four boundaries in 38 deliveries she faced. Saman Pun took one wicket for Bara.
Earlier, Bara failed to cope with a disciplined KDCA bowling attack with only Saraswati Pun managing to offer some resistance with a 39-ball 19 in her boundaryless innings. Mamata Chaudhary (10) was the only other batswoman to make runs in double figures.
Bara could have seen a humiliating total had there not been 17 extra runs gifted by KDCA bowlers. Suman Bista picked up two wickets for the winning side, while Kabita, Anjali Chand and Laxmi Saud snapped up one wicket apiece.
