Kaski win Deaf Cricket opener

Kaski made a winning start in the fourth National Deaf Cricket Tournament which serves as the selection tournament for the 2014 Deaf Cricket World Cup.

The tournament is participated in by six teams and after the completion of the event, Nepal will pick the best players for the Deaf Cricket World Cup to be held in UAE next year. On Wednesday, Kaski laboured hard to come out with a two-wicket victory over Dharan.

Kaski bundled out Dharan for a meager 66 in 14.5 overs but the latter made the ultimate winners for every run before they reached 67-8 in 8.1 overs. Ranjit Kumar Das contributed 12 runs in Kaski batting order that featured no other double figure getters.

Santosh Jha took three wickets for Dharan with Abin Limbu also accounting for two victims. Sahil Ansari, Sushant Limbu and Mahendra Limbu had one scalp apiece.

Earlier, man-of-the-match Sher Bikram Shahi wreaked havoc in Dharan batting order picking up four wickets. Bijaya Kumar Rai gave the best for Dharan making 14 runs – the best individual score in the match. Rupendra Chaudhary made nine.

Ranjit also took two wickets for Kaski, while Krishna Chhetri and Khem Chandra Koirala picked up one each. Other participating teams in the tournament are Rupandehi, Morang, Kathmandu and Naxal team of Kathmandu.
