Karan leads Tez to big win, with bat!

Karan KC proved himself as a genuine all rounder smashing 52 off 31 coming at No 3 to put Panchakanya Tez in the final of the Wai Wai Everest Premier League on Thursday.

The 50-over Nepal Premier League champions hammered bottom team Sagarmatha Legends by 49 runs to registered their fourth consecutive victory and enter the final with a match (against Vishal Warriors on Friday) to spare. Tez have eight points from four matches at the top of the table.

Electing to bat first, Tez came up with a changed batting line up with Sharad Vesawkar opening the innings with Aasif Sheikh, the opener departing early for just three runs. But Karan’s power hitting laid the foundation for Tez’s tournament-high 185-5 in 20 overs. Legends were packed up for 136 in reply.

It was KC who stole the day with four biggest sixes, one of them going out of the stadium. He also smashed four boundaries and shared 78 runs for the second wicket with skipper Sharad Vesawkar.

After Karan’s departure, Tez batsmen continued from where the usual-seamer had left scoring runs with ease. Sharad made 30 off 32 with a two fours and a six, while Prithu Baskota was the second best scorer making 38 off 21 hitting two sixes and two fours.

Kushal Bhurtel (22) and Sonu Tamang (17) all chipped in as Tez surpassed Vishal Warriors 174 made against Legends. Bikram Sob took two wickets for winless Legends who were already out of final race.

If it was Karan who did the job with bat, left arm spinner Sushil Kandel ripped through Legends batting taking three wickets in his two-over spell removing Sandeep Sunar (seven), Anil Mandal (zero) and Binod Bhandari (one) to paralyse the opponents.

Their challenge was virtually over after in-form opener Suni Dhamala (18) departed in the sixth over leaving Legends at 42-4. Mehboob Alam (23), Rahul Kumar BK (22) and Chandra Sawad (22) saved the blushes scoring in double digits. Sharad also took 3-22 for Tez.
