Kantipur TV and Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) advanced to the quarter-finals of the Coca-Cola Indoor Corporate cricket tournament at the Velocity Arena on Friday.
Kantipur advanced as Group ‘D’ winners and NSJF followed them as the runners-up from the same pool. Both teams ensured their passage to the last eight with victory over Facts Nepal.
Kantipur hammered Facts by 31 runs rinding on explosive knocks from Roshan Shrestha and Sandesh Katwal. Shrestha scored 38-ball 47 and Katwal hit an unbeaten 46 off 26 deliveries as Kantipur posted a mammoth 107-2 in 12 overs. Facts Nepal could only muster 76-3 in their 12 overs with Gautam Jha contributing 26 runs.
NSJF earlier defeated Facts by six wickets. Batting first Facts were all out for a meagre 36 runs with Subash Humagain taking three and Kaushal Adhikari picking up two wickets for NSJF. NSJF cruised to victory in just six overs with Humagain chipping in an unbeaten 11 runs.
In the days other matches, F1 Soft beat Gorkha Brewery by three wickets in Group ‘C’, Yeti Airlines defeated Bottlers Nepal by six wickets in Group ‘A’ and Sipradi Trading crushed Premier Insurance by 50 runs in Group ‘B’. Top two teams from each of the four pools make it to the quarter-finals.
