Kallis need to prove his form for 2015 World Cup

South African selector Andrew Hudson has hinted that the best all rounder in the world Jacques Kallis might get a chance to play in ICC World Cup to be held next year combined in New Zealand and South Africa.

One of the greatest batsmen in the world Kallis had expressed his view to play the 2015 World Cup during his retirement from test match cricket last year.

“It is not certain that Kallis will play World Cup next year. We may include him in playing XI during World Cup but he has to prove his form to be included in the tournament,” said Hudson.

“He is a great player. Inclusion of him in the team means a good balance for the team as he can bat and bowl,” described Hudson.

“We are playing 25 ODIs before the World Cup next year. Now we are playing against against Sri Lanka in July and then will travel to Zimbabwe. There is lots of game to Kallis to prove his form. If he can prove his form and is fit to play there is no doubt that he will be included in the World Cup team,” expressed Hudson.

To know the form of Kallis and to include him in the World Cup he has been included in the squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Kallis had last played for South Africa in the home series against Pakistan and then India. But he had not played any ODI in the duration of February 2012 and November 2013.

Kallis has so far played 325 ODIs making 11,574 run with an average of 44.86 and with 17 centuries and 86 half centuries with his bat while in the as much as matches he has taken 273 wickets with bowl.
