Kalaiya to clash with Armymen

National team opener Anil Mandal and Naresh Budhayer smashed half centuries as Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) crushed visiting side Ricky-XI of Bihar by seven wickets to set the second Deepak Gupta Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament title clash with Kalaiya in Janakpur on Monday.


Kalaiya defeated Biratnagar by 19 runs to inch closer to the title in the other semi-final of the day. U-19 national team opener Amit Shrestha scored 77 from 70 balls as Kalaiya made 146-3 in 20 overs.


Biratnagar, in reply, were restricted to 127-9. Aarif Sheikh, who was the consistent performer of Nepal in the recently held ACC U-19 Asia Cup, was dismissed for a duck but made up for his batting failures picking up three wickets.


Binod Das and Pawan Sharraf also took two wickets each for Kalaiya. Hashim Ansari – who played for Birgunj in the national tournaments, made 28 runs for Biratnagar.


Aamir Akhtar (18), Sadab Akhtar (16) and Mehboob Alam (12) were others to make runs in double figures.


Earlier, man-of-the-match Amit struck seven boundaries in Kalaiya innings.


Suraj Patel also contributed an important 53 for the winning side with one four and two sixes.


Rajesh Singh took two wickets for Biratnagar with Karan pikcking up one.


In the second semi-final, Ricky-XI made 158-7 with a half century from Dyna Prakash (50).


Dyna hit five boundaries and three sixes. Man-of-the-match Anil then made 63 off 50 with nine boundaries and Naresh scored 56 with five fours and a six as TAC finished at 162-3 in 19 overs.


The final is slated for Tuesday.
