Opener Jyoti Pandey struck an unbeaten half century as Nepal Armed Police
Force (APF) Club began their Ruslan Attariya Cup Women’s Twenty20 campaign with
a seven-wicket victory over Milan Cricket Club of Jhapa on Thursday.
Led by national women’s team skipper Rubina Chhetri, Milan made 93-4 in 20
overs after they elected to bat first. Playing against her former club,
Chhetri’s Milan failed to prevent the defeat as APF reached 96-3 in 15.5 overs
with Jyoti holding together the innings after some early wobble.
APF lost Sita Rana Magar (duck), Sarita Magar (naught) and Ritu Kanoujiya
(four) for just 20 runs before Jyoti took the team across the finishing line
forging an unbeaten 76-run stand with Karuna Bhandari.
Player-of-the-match Jyoti hit a 47-ball 55 with five boundaries and Karuna
scored 18 from 32 balls. Sangita Rai took 2-15 from four overs for Milan.
Earlier, Milan seemed like heading towards a low total but Saraswati
Chaudhary and Vaincy Chaudary took them close to triple figures with a 43-run
unbroken partnership for the fifth wicket.
Saraswati top scored with 21 runs and Vaincy made 19 with both batswomen
hitting three boundaries each from 22 balls apiece. Skipper Rubina was their
next best scorer making a 28-ball 14 hitting three boundaries. Karuna took one
wicket for APF who had affected three run outs.
