Janaki Medical College (JMC) entered the last eight of the first KU Inter University Twenty20 Cricket Tournament with a 10-wicket rout of Nepalese Army Institute of Health Science (NAIHS) at the Kathmandu University grounds in Dhulikhel.
Meanwhile, there were also victories for Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) and Himalayan White House. KUSOM cruised past Nepal College of Management (NCM) by four wickets and White House survived a National College of Engineering (NCE) scare to win by two wickets.
NAIHS elected to bat first but it backfired after JMC packed them up for 70 in 14.2 overs in a Group ‘D’ match that was reduced to 15 overs. Man-of-the-match Kaushik Barman ran riot over NAIHS bowling as JMC rocketed to 71-0 in just 8.3 overs.

Earlier, Barun Yadav and Amrit Singh took three wickets in NAIHS innings where Utsav Jung Thapa top scored with 13 runs. Amrit Neupane made 11.
Pratik Agrawal completed a half century that took NCM to 148 all out in 17.2 overs in an 18-over game. But Pratik’s knock was shadowed by some brilliant works from man-of-the-match Prajit Karmacharya and Ankush Upreti as KUSOM reached 152-6 in 17.2.
Prajit fell one short of his half century making 49 off 30 with five boundaries and two sixes. Ankush made a composed 42 off 45 with five boundaries and one maximum. Suresh Khatri took two wickets for NCM.
Earlier, Pratik made 51 off 34 balls hitting 10 boundaries and NCM headed towards a descent total following a 35-ball 42 from Shikhar Sharma. Shikhar hit five boundaries and one six. Utkarasha Karmacharya took four wickets for KUSOM.
Pushpa R Sharma picked up three and Bishesh Sangat got rid of two batsmen. Likewise, NCE batted first to make 130-6 in 20 overs and tested White House a lot before they finished at 131-8 in 16.4 overs.
Bibek Basnet (27), Bibek Ranabhat (22) and Anil Karki (17) contributed in White House victory. Ujjwal Niraula and Dinesh R Bhatia took two wickets each for NCE.
