Jitendra stars in convincing NCS victory

Nepal’s U-19 opener Jitendra Singh Thakuri smashed a half century and Dipesh Das gave a perfect finishing as Nepal Cricket School crushed Oasis Cricket Academy by 48 runs in the Khukuri Challenger Twenty20 cricket tournament on Saturday.

On a day of lopsided matches at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Wai Wai Great Himalayan Cricket Academy (GHCA) hammered IOE Thapathali by eight wickets after their bowlers ran riot.

The day belonged to man-of-the-match Jitendra who smashed a 34-ball 53 with seven boundaries and a six leading his side to 145-6 in 17 overs. After the early impetus provided by Jitendra, Dipesh did the rest smashing an 18-ball 41 with six boundaries.

Oasis were 97 all out in 17 overs with only their openers Bishal Limbu (20) and Abhinash Singh (10) along with Susan Karki (13) and Roshan Pulami Magar (12) managing to give some fight. Pratish GC, Ayush Baniya and Safal KC picked up two wickets each for NPS.

NPS also had Rit Gautam (19) and Rahul Pokhrel (16) as their notable contributors supporting Jitendra. Subodh Dhungel and Sachin Sharma took two wickets each for Oasis.

In the second match, three wickets each from Kamal Singh Airee and man-of-the-match Sagar Dhakal, and two scalps from Rupesh Srivastav restricted IOE to 62-9 in 17 overs. Opener Abhishek Basnet and Sushant Timalsina then helped the team across the finish line with ease as GHCA reached 66-2 in nine overs.

Abhishek made 27 not out from 25 balls with five boundaries and Sushan chipped in a 12-ball 20 with four hits to the fence.

Earlier, No 10 batsman Sushil Bhatta was the longest survivor of GHCA’s discipline bowling making an unbeaten 22 from 37 balls with a boundary. Amit Kushwa (18) was the other batsman to reach double figures hitting a six and a four. e
