Region No-VII (Janakpur) posed themselves as the title credentials with yet another clinical victory in the Women’s National at the Pulchowk Engineering College grounds on Monday.
On their way to register third convincing victory, Janakpur defeated Region No-IX (Dhangadhi) by 10 wickets to stay at the top of the Group ‘B’ table with six points. They now face their biggest challenge in the league stage when they take on Region No-V (Nepalgunj), who have four points from two matches, on Tuesday.
Saraswoti Chaudhary wreaked havoc as Janakpur skittled out Dhangadhi for just 70 in 31 overs before they cantered to the victory in just 11.2 overs with their openers doing all the job. Anuradha Chaudhary top scored with 29 off 36 hitting five boundaries, while Sobha Ale made 27 off 33 with three fours.
Earlier, Dhangadhi were clueless against a strong Janakpur bowling losing their wickets at regular intervals. While their total was bolstered by 19 extra runs, Bimala Bhatt (15) and Kabita Joshi (12) were the only batswomen to make runs in double figures.
Saraswoti returned the figures of 5-8 from eight overs, while Santoshi Chaudhary and Shanti Chaudhary also had two wickets apiece. Kabita Gautam had one scalp.
