Is Som Pal joining senior nat’l team?

Under-19 sensation Som Pal Kami is likely to be considered for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers to be hedl in New Zealand in January next year, according to a report in country’s leading national daily The Himalayan Times.

 

Som Pal is currently a member of the Nepali U-19 squad finalised for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup but the senior team management is preparing to draft in Som Pal in the squad considering the seaming conditions of New Zealand, read the report.

 

Som Pal earned a lot of praise when he made life difficult for Air India and Delhi Wanderers batsmen with his pace and bounce after he was considered for Nepal in the ongoing Journey to World Cup. Som Pal has already taken seven wickets in two matches.

 

“He is one of the exceptional talents we have seen so far. He has been pretty impressive in this tournament (Journey To World Cup) and the spot is open for him. It is not only about Som Pal but also Ram Naresh Giri and other players as well,” The Himalayan Times quoted Dassanayake as saying.

 

Dassanayake has asked the cricket governing body to include Som Pal in the senior squad and seek his replacement for U-19 side, the report said quoting to a source. The ACC U-19 Asia Cup is beginning at the UAE from December 28 to January 4, coinciding with the Qualifiers. Som Pal’s visa procedures for New Zealand has already begun, source added.

 

Som Pal was brought by Nepali Cricket Fan Club in Nepal to play cricket along with Arjun Adhikari and Suraj KC. Som Pal has already impressed many by his all round abilities. He is considered the fastest one. He had slammed two centuries during a Regional Selection Tournament for Kathmandu.
