Indian Embassy to assist Nepali cricket

The Embassy of India in Nepal is providing the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) with an assistance of funds for the renovation of Tribhuvan University cricket grounds in Kirtipur and development of Nepali cricket.


According to a source, Indian Embassy has promised to help CAN with monetary assistance which will be given within this month after CAN provides Embassy with no objection letter from Tribhuwan University. The ground has been the property of the University which is run by CAN under lease.


After the back-to-back success in international cricket, Indian embassy has shown an interest to help Nepali cricket.  


When asked about it to a source in CAN regarding the help to CAN by Indian Embassy, source informed that both the party are having talks. But the final deal is yet to be made.


“We are having talks. The Indian Embassy is quite positive in helping us.” Source further described: “We will be spending the money in building sophisticated pavilion, putting flood lights in ground which can be used for practices.”


Indian Embassy had helped U19 Women National cricket team with monthly incentive of rupees five thousands per month for two years and also has promised to continue in future too.
