I’m sure runs will come from Aasif : Binod Das

The U-19 team has left for
Singapore from New Delhi after completing a
preparation tour for the July 17-25 ICC U-19 World Cup
Division 1 Asia
Qualifier in Singapore. In their two-week long
preparation camp in Greater Noida, Nepal played five practice matches
winning three and losing one with one rain wash-out. Although, Nepal was
scheduled to play seven to nine matches, the possible five games were
enough to expose Nepali team ahead of the Qualifier where they meet arch
rivals Afghanistan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Cricketingnepal had a brief chat with coach Binod Das where he talked
about the squad
, new faces in the team and tournament expectations.
Excerpts:

Tell us something about the squad. We
have picked the best possible 14 players and it’s a balanced squad.

I must say we have all the bases covered.

What do you take out of the India tour?
There are in fact a lot of positives. We had plans and achieved most
of the desired goals through the camp. Our batting looks good now and
the
spinners have been bowling pretty well. The fast bowlers have been bowling with some pace and consistency. We are happy with what we have
got.

What do you have to say about the new faces in Pranit (Thapa Magar),
Sahab (Alam), Kishor (Mahato) and Rijan (Dhakal) ?

They have all
performed and that’s the best part for us. Sahab was probably the best
spinner on this (India) tour. Kishor bowled very well (during the last
practice match) and in matches earlier. Rijan is able to swing the ball and Pranit was among runs in all the matches.
So they have made it to the final list through their performances.

How much selection dilemma will there be?
It will be hard to pick 11 but I believe that’s a good headache to have.

How much are you concerned with Aasif’s form?
Aasif is hitting the ball well so I’m sure the runs will come from him.

Can the team break Afghan hodoo this time?
I’m confident of putting our best performance. Rest, the day will decide.
