Rangana Herath, Sri Lankan left arm spinner is all set to miss first and is doubtful for second test match against New Zealand which will start with boxing test match at Christchurch.
Herath had hamstring tear in his upper and inner part of left thigh during a training session ahead of fifth One Day International (ODI) against England. Herath then missed last three ODIs against England.
Hearth was included in the test squad for New Zealand tour with hope of his recovery for second test match but he still needs three weeks to get fully recovered. Sri Lankan cricket team has leaved for New Zealand on Thursday but Herath is still in Sri Lanka and getting treatment for his hamstring.
In absence of Herath, Sri Lanka has two option in the department of spinner. Dilruwan Perara is an option while they have another option of 21 years old Tharindu Kaushal who is yet to debut in test matches. But Sri Lankan cricket boards has not announced the substitute of Herath yet.
