Gyanendra, Basanta get visa for Canada

Nepal’s middle order batsman Gyanendra Malla and left arm spinner Basanta Regmi will soon leave for Canada to play professional cricket in Canada.

Both players were awaiting visa to play in the Canadian League that has already begun from June 1. The duo will join skipper Paras Khadka in the Canadian League with Gyanendra set to play for Ontario Cricket Academy and Club (OCA) — the club where the national team already had one spell last year.

Addressing the Nepali cricket fans through social networking site facebook, national team coach Pubudu Dassanayake confirmed about Gyanendra and Basanta’s visa approval.

“Dear fans, Gayanendra Malla n Basant Regmi got visa to play for the two clubs in Toronto cricket league. Them n Paras who already had visa, will be flying to Toronto soon,” wrote Dasanayake in his facebook account.

Dassanayake — who is currently in Canada — has recommended all three players to play in the Canadian league.

Dassanayake is in the plans to make his players as much busy as he can to prepare them for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier to be held in Dubai in November and ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier to be held in New Zealand next year.

Dassanayake has already recommended other two national team batsmen Binod Bhandari and Pradeep Airee for the Sri Lanka U-23 League. Cricket Association of Nepal has already confirmed that they would invest on the trip of the batsmen.
