Nepali national cricket team captain Gyanendra Malla has been appointed the Chief Sports Advisor of Rajarshi Gurukul.
School chairman Rajesh Chaudhary and Gyanendra signed an MoU during a programme at the school premises in Sallaghari, Bhaktapur. The school largely focuses on development of students through extra curricular activities for which it has set up sports facilities.
Chaudhary, also a former cricketer himself, said it was just a start to bring mainstream cricket to his organization.
“Gyanendra is a big name in Nepali cricket. We are looking forward to get associated with Nepali cricket in coming days and this is just the start for us, said Chaudhary.
The one-year agreement will see Gyanendra promoting the school activities and work on his role as a chief sports advisor. Gyanendra was proud to be associated with the organization.
“The way the school has set up sports facilities for its students show how serious it is in the capacity building of their pupils. Rajarshi Gurukul is a reputed organization and I am both happy and proud to be associated with it, said the national team captain.
