A 17-year old young fast bowler Gulshan Jha was the surprise inclusion as the Cricket Association of Nepal on Wednesday named a 20-member preliminary squad for the national team closed-camp.
Nepal are preparing for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series in Oman that will also involve the USA. The Tri-Series which was postponed last year is scheduled for September with the precise date yet to be announced.
Gulshan is a two-game wonder who had impressed everyone during this year’s Kathmadu Mayor’s Cup 50-over cricket tournament. The 6 feet 3 inches tall lanky fast bowler played in the semi-final and final, effectily taking four wickets in the second to shape victory for the Nepal Police Club.
The list also includes former national team Paras Khadka who announced a surprise retirement from internationals on Tuesday.
The camp sees a return of another youngster Rohit Kumar Paudel and veteran Sharad Vesawkar along with another recall for fast bowler Bikram Sob. Rest of the members include the part of the squad that played the Tri-Nation Twenty20 International Series in April at the TU cricket grounds.
