The visiting Gujrat Touring Selfie Cricket Team defeated
local side Machhapuchhre Cricket Club by eight wickets in the last Twenty20 to
win their five-match tour 3-2 on Saturday.
Batting first at the Pokhara Stadium, Machhapuchhre made
138-3 in 20 overs on the back of a super 67-ball 93 from opener Deepesh Khatri.
The Gujrat team, however, made short work of the target after reaching 139-2
with two balls to spare.
Gujrat Touring Selfie Team needed 20 runs from the last seven
deliveries and it began with a six. U-16 international Mekh Bahadur Sen, who
ended up picking 14 wickets from five matches, bowled the decisive final over
but was hit for four consecutive boundaries.
Neel Patel top scored for the tourists with a 54-ball 79 and
Vartik Joshi chipped in 28 off 41. Deepesh, playing his first match in Pokhara
after 16 months, struck seven fours and four sixes in a whirlwind knock.
the tournament, Selfie Cricket Team manager Kurvesh Kaushik Bhatta also
provided Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung with the team’s
official suit. Selfie Cricket Team’s motive is to develop cricket at the rural
place of Gujrat. It was their first international friendly tour.
