The government of Nepal on Tuesday has extended coach Pubudu Dassanayake’s contract for the next one year. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had on Monday said that it was not in the condition to recruit a coach citing financial crisis in the cricket governing body.
A minister level meeting on Tuesday decided to give the one-year extension to Dassanayake, meaning he will remain in the post until next July. Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat on Tuesday morning had tweeted that the government will support if CAN is unable to bear the expenses for Dassanayake.
“Govt cannot lose coach Dassanayake who s worked hard to raise our cricket status. Govt to support if CAN has become bankrupt and incapable,” a tweet from Mahat read.
The meeting has also decided to form a four-member advisory committee to bring a report on the development of cricket.
