Gorkha Brewery, F1 Soft, Kantipur TV and Sipradi Trading entered the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Indoor Corporate Cup cricket tournament on Saturday.
At the Velocity Arena in Ratopul, Gorkha Brewery cruised to a four-wicket victory over Yeti Airlines. Yeti were 67 all out in 10.5 overs before Gorkha Brewery reached 68-3 in 9.2. Bijay Rawat (18) and man-of-the-match Bibek Thapa (15) contributed in the team’s victory.
Sandeep Shrestha had top scored in the game with 25 runs for Yeti Airlines.
F1 Soft overcame NCC Bank by four wickets. After restricting NCC to 63-5 in 12 overs, F1 Soft reached 65-3 in 10.5 overs where a 22-ball 23 from Rabindra Gautam played a crucial role. Pravesh Mathema (14) also made runs in double figures. Suraj Dhungana had top scored with 23 not out for NCC.
In the first quarter-final match, Kantipur TV edged Premier Insurance by two wickets. Electing to bat first, Premier Insurance made 78-3 in 12 overs. Kantipur replied with 79-5 in 11.1 overs. Amar Pradhan (18) and Ujjwol Prashant (11) played useful cameos in the team’s victory. Mimu Tuladhar picked up two wickets for Premier.
Earlier, man-of-the-match Tuladhar pushed Premier towards a respectable total making a 35-ball 39 not out with two fours and a six. Shibi Shah also made 13 runs. Tuladhar was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
SIpradi hammered Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) by 80 runs riding on an explosive knock from Dipesh Shrestha. They amassed a tournament-high 112-5 in 12 overs after Shrestha slammed six sixes and a four in an unbeaten 34-ball 60. NSJF, in reply, were bundled out for just 32 – tournament’s lowest total – in nine overs.
Shawant Jung Sijapati, who had also contributed 23 runs, took 5-8 from three overs and got man-of-the-match award.
