GHCA opens new Academy in Shantinagar

Great Himalaya Cricket Academy on Tuesday established its new branch in Shantinagar with net practice facilities.

 

Cricket Association of Nepal Vice-president Keshab Ghimire and national team coach Pubudu Dassanayake opened the facility that has an area of two ropanis. The facility has three practice nets.

 

Dassanayke shared the importance of such Academies as it’ll help produce young cricketers in root level.  He added GHCA is doing a good job as former cricketers are contributing in the development of the cricket. He said “It’ll take a minimum of 10 years for a cricketer to mature as a professional so academies like GHCA will provide a platform for cricketers of age under 12 to give enough time to learn and play cricket.”

 

GHCA established in 2069 has been providing regular cricket training to young and emerging cricketers. Established by former national cricketers it focuses on 3-Ts of cricket that is Training, Tournament and Tour.

 

Speaking in the opening of second training center Director of GHCA Sudeep Sharma shared, “In a mission to provide quality Cricket Training to all GHCA plans to open Cricket Training Centers in various parts of Kathmandu Valley and around. GHCA soon plans to open it’s new training center at Bhaktapur and Lalitpur as well.”

 

GHCA has constructed three practice nets, two cemented and one turf at Shantinagar. This training center has been constructed in an investment of nearly one million rupees. Coach Samson Jung Thapa and national cricketer Sanjam Regmi will look after the Training at GHCA Shantinagar Center.

 

GHCA through it’s new branch will focus on the development of school level cricket and young cricketers. It will develop special packages to introduce cricket training for schools. GHCA will also provide scholarship to deserving young talents to groom them for play in the highest level in future.
