EPL signs one-crore rupee deal with AP1 HD

EPL Pvt Ltd has signed
a record TV rights deal with AP1 HD for the broadcasting of Everest Premier
League Twenty20 cricket tournament slated for December.

The two parties,
during a programme on Wednesday, signed a one-crore rupees deal per season for
the next three years. Considering the length of the city based franchise
cricket tournament, this is the record deal in Nepali sporting history.

 

According to the deal,
EPL along with six other franchise will get a total sum of five million rupees
under the Return of Investment (RoI) Model. Each six stake holders will get Rs
714,000.

 

Rest of the five
million will be received by barter as a collective of the production, airtime
and free advert time provided by AP1 HD for the live broadcast of EPL 2017.

 

AP1 HD Managing
Director Laxmi Paudel and EPL Pvt Ltd Managing Director signed the contract.

 

AP1 HD’s Paudel said
the deal is going to make a significant contribution to the game in the
country. “We had been willing to connect to the people who have no
affiliation with the television industry. We had our start with DPL, followed
by football tournaments and then its EPL which has a very good concept,”
said Paudel.

 

EPL Pvt Ltd MD Akhtar
was a happy man. “We are happy with this association that can revolutionise
the game. EPL has now adopted a business model and hopefully this will help
Nepali cricket,” said Akhtar.

 

EPL Pvt Ltd is yet to
reveal the six owners of the city franchises.
