England Cricket Board has appointed left handed middle order batsman Eion Morgan as their new captain of England cricket team. The decision came from the board just after a day where they had decided to sack Alaister Cook from the post of English captain.
England cricket board decided to change Cook as captain of their cricket team and appoint Morgan as a new leader just before World Cup 2015 which starts in less than eight weeks’ time jointly in Australia and New Zealand.
The decision to sack Cook and appoint Morgan came after their worst tour of Sri Lanka where England lost seven match series by 5-2 and ongoing poor form of Cook himself. Cook has scored just a half century in his last 22 ODIs.
Middle order batsman Morgan had debuted in ODI from Ireland against Scotland in 2006 has played 130 ODIs and has scored 3725 runs with an average of 36.51. Morgan has 22 half centuries and six centuries in his name in ODIs.
