Drama as Pappu disqualified, NMB boycott

Drama unfolded on the final day of the 15th Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes that saw disqualification of Pappu Construction and boycotting of defending champions NMB Bank.

NMB Bank had filed a protest against Pappu – against whom they had lost by six wickets in the quarter-finals on Monday – for fielding players not belonging to the organisation. The organisers on Tuesday cancelled the protest and decided on the favour of Pappu saying the documents they provided proved they had eligible players.

The organisers then took a complete u-turn and that too after conducting the toss for Pappu versus Embassy of India semi-finals disqualifying Pappu when three other semi-finalists said the documents provided by Pappu were not enough.

The new decision meant NMB Bank were through to the semi-finals but to everyone’s surprise, they decided to boycott the tournament. “Its completely the weakness of the organisers and under these controversial circumstance, we are not playing the semi-finals,” said Mohan KC, skipper of the NMB Bank team.

Pappu team management fumed over the decision by the organisers and claimed their documents clarify all players belong to them. They even called the decision one-sided and it was one of the shameful moment in Super Sixes history.
