Region No 7 (Janakpur) put on a disciplined bowling performance to file their second consecutive victory defeating Region No 8 (Pokhara) by five wickets in the Wai Wai U-19 Women’s National Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Pokhara made 56-7 in 20 overs with extra 21 runs contributing much to their total. Janakpur though didn’t impress with the bat but a slow start with the bat meant they crawled to the total reaching 57-5 in 10.2 overs.
Janakpur now lead Group ‘A’ table with four points from two matches ahead of Region No 1 (Biratnagar) and Region No 3 (Kathmandu) who have two points each.
Mamta Chaudhary made 14 off eight for Janakpur with three hits to the fence. Shanti Chaudhary remained unbeaten on nine from 22 balls, while Sarswati Chaudhary (seven) was their next best performer.
Prabha Nepali gave the best performance picking up 4-23 from four overs but all her efforts went in vain. Sushila Gurung also picked up one wicket for Pokhara.
Earlier, Pragya Pokhrel was the only Pokhara batswoman to make runs in double figures collecting 15 from 15 with three boundaries. Shanti Chaudhary picked up 3-12 and Anuradha Chaudhary snared 2-6 from her four. Gita Karki also took one wicket.
