Middle order batsman and Vice-captain of Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli will debut as a test Captain for India for the first Test match aginst Australia which will be played at Adelaide from Tuesday.
Kohli will be doing the job of Captain, as Dhoni who is the regular captain of India has not been fully fit for his thumb injury and is set to miss the test match. Dhoni had also missed their five match ODI series agaisnt Sri Lanka in India due to hairline crack on his right thumb.
Kohli who has played 29 test matches for India has been doing the job of Captain including the recently held five match ODI series against Sri Lanka but this will be the first time he will be leading the team in Test matches.
Dhoni was expected to get recovery after the initially scheduled test match which to be held in December 4 and was shifted after the tragedy death of Australian batsman Phillips Hughes. As World Cup is near the team did not wanted to take risk. In absense of Dhoni Wriddhiman Shah will be sitting behind the stumps.
