Dhangadhi United smash G-Force

Dhangdi United Academy hammered G-Force Cricket Academy by eight wickets on the back of a five-wicket haul from Bikram Thagunna in their last Group ‘C’ match of the Kathmandu Cricket League on Friday.

Electing to bat first at the Tundikhel grounds, Thagunna picked up five of the first G-Force wickets to fall before they were bundled out for just 90 runs in 27.4 overs.

With experienced U-19 campaigners, Dhangadi overhauled the target in just 8.1 overs. It was Dhangadi’s first win in the tournament having shared points with a star-studded SS Events in their opener.

SS now need to win their final group match against G-Force with a huge margin to go through in the expense of Dhangadi.

Janak Nepal (18 off 36) was the only G-Force batsmen to offer some resistance, while Roshan Sharma and Roshan Dhami made 12 runs each. Thagunna took 5-21 from nine overs. Rajbir Singh also picked up 3-14 from 6.4 overs for Dhangadi.

Dhangadi lost opener Sunil Dhamala (eight) early in their chase but his former U-19 national teammate Amit Shrestha and Rajbir resisted with a 78-run match winning stand.

Amit made an unbeaten 35 off 18 with seven fours and Rajbir made the same run with same number of boundaries facing 22 balls. Biraj Yadav picked up both Dhangadi wickets to fall.

In a Group ‘A’ match on Saturday, Great Himalaya Cricket Academy will take on Himalayan Cricket Academy.
