Region-IX (Dhangadhi) and Region-VII (Janakpur) posted yet another convincing victories in the Wai Wai U-16 Girls’ National Cricket Tournament in Lahaan on Thursday.
Dhangadhi were the biggest victors of the day who hammered Region-II (Birgunj) by 180 runs. Explosive half centuries from Bindu Rawal and Kabita Joshi saw Dhangadhi pile up a mammoth 239-5 in 20 overs. Birgunj in reply were bundled out for just 49 runs in 19.3 overs.
Punam Parswan picked up 3-10 for Dhangadhi, while Kabita Kunwar, Chandani Shah and Menuka Kunwar picked up a wicket each. Divyani Karn (11) was the only Birgunj batswoman to make runs in double figures.
Earlier, Bindu smashed 97 not out off just 58 balls hitting 19 boundaries, while Kabita Joshi made 71 off 41 with 14 boundaries. Ajima Khatun (2-24) and Sabbu Khatun (2-62) shared four wickets between them for Birgunj.
In another match, Janakpur routed Region-IV (Bhairahawa) by 10 wickets. Binu Roka and Aarati Chaudhary picked up three wickets each as Bhairahawa were 47 all out in 13.4 overs. Bhairhawa had no notable contributors in their innings.
Openers Anuradha Chaudhary and Aarati were enough for Janakpur to sail them through as they reached 48 without loss in just 6.3 overs. Anuradha hit six boundaries in her 14-ball 28 and Aarati made 25-ball 10.
