Dependant Nepal take on Bermuda today

After being hit hard by two back-to-back losses, Nepal are taking on hosts Bermuda in their third match of the ICC World Cricket League Division-III at the St David’s ground.

Nepal are at the bottom of the points table with the team yet to register its first win of the tournament. More than targeting an unlikely promotion to the Division-II or earning a place in the 2014 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, the Nepali camp would focus on at least  bringing back the winning ways, that dated back to the Division-IV in Malaysia in September last year.

Nepal have played once against Bermuda and defeated them in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in Dubai. So, that victory in the shorter version of the game would be a mental boost for the Nepali team that have so far gone clueless against the United States of America and Uganda.

Nepal had lost to USA in their tournament opener by 94 runs, a day before going down to Uganda by six wickets at the Somerset Cricket Club grounds.

Bermuda had lost to Uganda by 114 runs in their first match but came back strong defeating Bermuda in the second. The Caribbean side will now be focused on defeating Nepal as well to ignite their chance of going into the World Cup Qualifier.

But winning their own matches is not enough, Nepal need encounters between other teams also swing to their favour. Their performance alone is not enough for a now-dependant Nepal.

In other matches on Wednesday, Italy – who have also lost two back-to-back games – will play Uganda and Oman are up against the USA.
