As debutant Rilee Rossouw scored his maiden half century South Africa won the first T20 international against Australia by seven wickets with six balls remaining in the match held at Adelaide, Oval on Wednesday. With the win South Africa lead the three match T20 International series by 1-0.
Australia winning the toss batted first and made 144 runs losing their six wickets. Shane Watson was the highest run scorer for Australia who made 47 while James Faulkner contributed not out 41 runs.
Kule Abbott was the highest wicket taker for South Africa who took three wickets conceding 21 runs in four overs. Likewise Wayne Parnell, Ryan McLaren and Imran Tahir had a scalp in their hand.
Chasing the target of 145 runs South Africa lost their first wickets of Reeza Hendricks (zero) in third balls of the first over. Then man of the match Roussouw came to bat for Africans. He smashed 78 runs in 50 balls with seven fours and three six. Wicket keeper batsman and opening batsman Quinton de Kock also contributed 46 runs for his team.
The second T20 International of the series will be held at Melbourne on November 7.
