DCA enter semi-finals, to meet Lucknow

Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) entered the semi-finals of the first Wai Wai Gautam Buddha International Cricket Tournament at the Buddha Padma grounds in Kapilvastu on Friday.

 

In a low-scoring match, DCA edged Janakpur by 19 runs to set the last four clash with Sound Image Lucknow. Both teams made second and third place finish in the second round points table securing a place in the last four.

 

The winners of the semi-final will meet Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) who have directly made it to the final after finishing second round at the top of the table following their crushing eight-wicket defeat of hosts Kapilvastu Youth Cricket Development Academy in the first match of the day.

 

DCA innings revolved around two batsmen reaching a precarious 89-9 in 20 overs. Their bowlers, however, managed to defend the low total sending Janakpur packing for just 70 in 19.4 overs.

 

M Paswan was the pick of the DCA bowlers returning with the figures of 3-10 from 3.4 overs. Faiz Ahmad took 2-15, while Vineet Singh, Rajeen Singh and Moninder Maurya also had one scalp apiece.

 

Pravash Jha (13), Raj Mohammad (10) and Kundan Singh (10) were the only Janakpur bowlers to make runs in double figures against DCA who also didn’t have a great day with bat.

 

Vishal Singh (10_ was the only top order batsman to make runs in double figures before Moninder came to the rescue making 26 not out off 33 with one six and a four. Moninder was named the man-of-the-match.

 

Raj and Kundan picked up two wickets each for Janakpur with Gopal Singh, Abhishek Jha and Rahul Pratap Singh also pickin up one each.
