Former national team coach Pubudu Dassanayake is joining Nepali team as consultant coach for their upcoming tour of England which will be followed by the ICC World Cricket League away matches against Netherlands.
Current head coach Jagat Tamatta confirmed about Dassanayake joining as consultant coach. Nepal will tour England as a preparation for their matches against Netherlands. Nepal will play four practice matches in England before taking on Marylebone Cricket Club at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The historic match against MCC is organised to mark the 200-year bilateral relationship between Nepal and the United Kingdom and will be played on.
Nepal’s WCLC matches against Netherlands are slated for.
“Pubudu will be with Nepali team for about six weeks. He will directly reach England and will be back to Nepal with team before leaving for Netherlands,” said Tamatta. “As he has a long experience of coaching our team, he understands the strength and flaws and that will be a great help for us,” said Tamatta
Tamatta further said, “ICC talked with Pubudu and made him agree to work as consultant coach. Dassanayke had also joined us during the matches against Namibia and his presence was a huge boost for the team.”
Dassanayake who joined Nepal as the head coach on August 23, 2011 had a great success as the coach of Nepal. During his tenure, Nepal qualified for maiden ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh in 2014.
