Dassanayake thankful to Pakistani respect

National cricket team coach Pubudu Dassanayake has expressed his gratitude to Pakistan national team for playing a full strength squad against his side during a tour match in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had scheduled Nepal for a 50-over game against Pakistan ahead of their World Cricket LeagueChampionship match against Papua New Guinea slated for November 16 and 18.

Pakistan fielded their best squad led by Azhar Ali and including the likes of Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Mohamad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad,Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan and Yasir Shah. All the players are the regular starters in the Pakone-day international team.

“Pakistan played their full strength and I am thankful for their respect to our team,” Dassanayake told after thematch which Nepal lost by 121 runs.

Pakistan rode on half centuries from their skipper, Shoaib Malik and quickfire innings from Azam to pile up a mammoth 326-6 in 50 overs.Nepal paid back the respect by playing full 50 overs and made 205-5 with Anil Mandal scoring a half century.
