Australia won their first One Day International against South Africa by a margin of 32 runs as their fast bowler stars in the match held at Western Australia Cricket Association Ground, Perth on Friday. With this win Australia won the five match series by 1-0.
With the help of George Bailey’s 70 runs Australia reached the mark of 300 runs with loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. Bailey played 75 balls and hit three fours and same number of six. Apart from Bailey David Warner also contributed 46 runs in 49 balls. Vernon Philander took four wickets for his team but could not restrict Australia in low score.
Chasing the target of 301 runs South Africa were bundled for 268 runs in 48.1 runs as man of the match Nathan Coulter-Nile sent four of South African batsman to the pavilion.
Captain AB de Villiers and David Miller tried to take their team to victory but could not do it. De Villiers was the highest runs scorer for South Africa who made 80 runs in 76 balls with four fours and a six. Likewise Miller also contributed 65 runs in 65 balls with five fours and a six.
Now South Africa and Australia will meet in the second ODI on November 16 to be played at Perth.
