Australian captain Michael Clarke wants his team to be the number one team in the ranking in T20, ODI and test too. And he wants to start the series against England with the aim of being the number one ODI team.
“We are now in the second in the ranking and are just one point behind us. They are a very good ODI side. So we want to perform the way we have performed in Ashes against them. We want to go to Number one spot”, Clarke told reporters ahead of ODI series against England that starts in Melbourne from Sunday.
To be in the first position of ranking Australia needs to beat England either by 4-1 or 5-0 clean sweep.
But India’s tour of New Zealand will decide the Australia’s position of being the number one ODI team. If New Zealand wins the series of five ODI by more than 3-2 than Australia will be number one team if they win the series against England.
